My personal diary;The highlights and what you missed in March!

Well the month of March has been a very busy but a great month for me. I have had the chance to attend events as a speaker and as an invitee too. The most important thing is that these events that have taught me a lot and also helped me overcome my phobia of crowds! I am more easy online and sharing info with the virtual world not when people are staring at me.However am making significant steps in what seems to be the start of doing speaking engagements on Social Media.Of late several invitations have been coming through and it feels great that a few people consider me as the "Go to Person" when issues on Social Media are being discussed. This reminds me of an expert opinion i gave to Radio Umoja on Social Media for job seeking a week ago.It's really encouraging!!

Finally i also introduced hashtags on Twitter last month too;Well just before i go on;let me explain a bit of what hashtags are.They are meant to be 'channels' which guys use in communicating on Twitter to enable guys follow a conversation.
Here's more about them!
People use the hashtag symbol # before relevant keywords (no spaces) in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter Search. By clicking on a hashtagged word in any message shows you all other tweets in that category;they can also occur anywhere in the Tweet – at the beginning, middle, or end and finally hashtagged words that become very popular are often called trending topics.I came up with two hashtags to help out Kenyans improve on Social Media. Start using #BeASocialPro on guys and companies messing,doing annoying things on twitter,brands that don't respond to your inquiries and same for those with inactive handles.On the contrary give #SocialPro for those doing a good job.Guys who clearly understand social etiquette,personal branding,those who respond in real time and brands that give you amazing customer experience on twitter!Do so for those who share useful links with others and people that share useful information on what's happening!

THE EVENTS.
Speaking @ KYCF
To start with I spoke on Social Media etiquette and personal branding to a group of young amazing people at Kenya youth coaching forum .It’s a monthly free forum that takes place every second Saturday of the month. Bikundo Onyari the CEO of aNDE Kenya also spoke on 8 ways of being highly effective and Nabeel Hassanali of Genesis consult Tanzania was also present.
The other event I attended was My Future Career forum organized by  Muthoni Murithi a Finance major finalist and a blogger. Some of the keynote speakers were Evans Ndemo,the country manager of KQ Burundi,Wesley Owiti Marketer & blogger,Dennis Chalinga of Junior Achievement Africa,Michael Nzule group supplier performance manager, EABL and Mr Obara a director at Platinum credit spoke on various issues on careers,interviews,training and shared their personal stories.
On 21st March i was invited by Green horn mentorship as a guest speaker on social media at the Aspire leadership forum.I tackled the issue of social media Etiquette,personal branding and how to use Social media for searching jobs.I was deeply humbled and excited for speaking at such a high profile event;check the list of other speakers!!!

@Aspire Leadership Forum

On the weekend of 24th we had a team building outing to Naivasha with other leaders in the executive committee from marketing Students association of University of Nairobi.Once in a while it's good to have fun with people you work with!You get to learn quite a lot of who these people really are!

On a sad note i missed marketers night out organized by Marketing Africa Ltd.The famous Dr Wale Akinyemi was the Keynote speaker for the night.Blame it on my assumption that Mr william kalombo would pass on the usual complementary tickets he gives the M.S.A,well this time round he just didn't!!However from the posts i saw on Social Media by some of my friends who attended the event was a great success.All isn't lost if you also didn't attend because you can read all the speeches here

In my next post i will share with you 10 business and life lessons i learnt from all these events.
Mean while Be a #SocialPro follow me @KenyanMarketer
